The mid-Fairfield County communities of Bethel, Brookfield, Easton, Monroe, Newtown, Redding and Ridgefield continue to see increases in reported Covid cases. Every one of the 7 communities except Brookfield saw an increase in new reported cases in October versus September, signaling an uptick in new case growth.
Bethel has the most reported Covid cases of any of its nearby mid-Fairfield County neighboring towns. Bethel's 339 cases was also the most of any of these 7 communities when factored by cases per 1,000 residents. Again, Bethel lead with 17.2 cases per 1,000 residents. Easton lead the group of 7 communities with the highest month over month percentage increase, at 22%, and Newtown had the most new reported cases from September 1st to October 1st with 33 new cases.
The 7 mid-Fairfield towns have a combined 125,610 residents compared with Danbury at 84,730 residents. However, Danbury sits at 3,107 reported Covid cases versus the combined 7 communities with 1,468 reported cases. When factored for population, Danbury has 36.21 reported cases for every 1,000 residents and the combined 7 communities have 11.42 reported Covid cases for every 1,000 residents.
